My Approach
I am an Integratively trained counsellor which means i draw upon relevant theory and techniques to tailor to each individual. I believe that everyone is unique and support individuals to understand how they fit in the world around them and explore ways of doing so in away that suits them
I use a variety of tools to facilitate my clients exploration of themselves (client permitting) such as psycho-education, stories, metaphor, art, music and other relevant handouts. This can support individuals, enabling them to cope with life challenges, build resilience and self esteem, and gain confidence. Therapy based on creative activities is known to have a positive impact on health and well being, and can reduce anxiety and depression. Individuals are able to develop coping strategies, learn to understand and express their feelings in a healthy way and reduce their social isolation by learning positive ways of relating in groups.

I also offer the incorporation of mindfulness and meditation exercises into the session not only to support the transition into the outside world following therapy but to utilise as a coping strategy. In recent years, mindfulness and meditation has been scientifically proven as a treatment of a number of problems, including: depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, couples’ conflicts, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I also offer EMDR therapy for individuals with Trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, Mood and anxiety disorders. EMDR is an 8 phase model that consists of history taking, psychoeducation, self regulation techniques, bilateral stimulation, trauma processing and safety and grounding exercises. The length of time varies from client to client dependent on psychological wellbeing.
